College GameDay and the defeat of Kansas

It was a big day for the Missouri Tigers yesterday.

ESPN personalities broadcast live from Mizzou Arena.

MU freshman Adam Zeller yells as ESPN cameras fly overhead during ESPN’s “College GameDay” on Saturday at Mizzou Arena.

505 Park Ave. Columbia, Missouri

Today I went out into a neighborhood north of downtown Columbia to look for some feature photos for the Columbia, Missouri. Met some funny and very curious kids.

And one photo by one of the kids. He insisted I make this pose..

Some Christmas cheer for you all

MoonRunner

A cool Columbia band, lit with multiple strobes. Why use the boring incandescent light when you have flashes, gels and pocket wizards?

Cody Schniders plays guitar with his band, Moonrunner on Wednesday night in Columbia, Missouri. The unique rock band, featuring a violinist,  just released their first EP and will be playing at Mojo’s on Friday, Nov. 9.

I dug this pretty little flower up from my archives.

I got a new lens and went to St. Louis to play.

Mizzou Centennial Homecoming

Hey all,

Here are a few quick photos from Mizzou’s 100th homecoming game, which happened yesterday. Enjoy!

Coach Gary Pinkel walks down a set of stairs to enter Faurot Field before Saturday’s game against Iowa State.

Gordon Fetterly, a member of Marching Mizzou Alumni Band, sits on the sidelines for a moment after his performance with the band.

Junior wide receiver T. J. Moe lands in the end zone for a touchdown.

MU’s Kenji Jackson and and ISU’s Albert Gary take a moment after both diving out of bounds to catch a ball.

Iowa State quarterback Jared Barnett attempts to avoid MU defense.

A lot of work for one marshmallow

Hey everyone. This is another one of my assignments for my Advanced Techniques of Photojournalism class. We were practicing lighting metal and glass. I chose metal. Working in the studio has been fun because it is a giant 3D puzzle where everything in the studio is either adding or taking away to your photo. It has been a good challenge, and a lot of fun (especially when I’m lighting fires at school with the help of some highly combustible rubber cement.)

Caption: Marshmallows were first utilized by the ancient Egyptians for a remedy for sore throats. No longer seen as a medicine in the Western world, nothing completes a summer like caramelizing marshmallows on an open flame.

And, if anyone was wondering how I created this image, below is synopsis of today’s afternoon alone in the studio.
